John Schramm

Looks like congratulations are in order on several fronts. I guess all I can say is this.

Welcome to the Planet to the newest member of the Hockensmith clan. And I hope Mom, Dad, and Big Sis are all doing fine, too.

Oh, and congratulations on the award thing, too.

What a great day/night, Steve. I'm happy for you.

Brett Battles

Fantastic news, Steve. Congraluations on your coming addition and the award noms. When it rains, it pours!!

Thanks, guys! All is well for the family -- including our newest member, Morgan Jones (a.k.a. "Mojo").

I would say "Let the sleep deprivation commence!", but of course it already has....

Big Red

I know we've had our differences in the past, Hockensmith, but dammit if I'm not actually happy for you.

Of course, I'd be even happier if you would've shown your appreciation for all Old Red and I have done for you.

"Otto Gustav Hockensmith." Has a certain ring to it, don't you think?

-Big Red

Well, I just moseyed over to congratulate you on the Shamus nod. I had no idea there was so much else going on. Enjoy your chlid... And get back to your wife...I think she's calling for you.

Thanks, Steven! And good advice re: my wife. Now I have less excuse than ever to be messing around with blogs, whether mine or anyone else's. If I drop off the Web-radar for a while, you'll all know why -- I'm busy changing diapers!

Susan Hajek

When is the next book coming???

Steve Hockensmith

Hey, Susan! Here's the scoop: The next book will be published early next year, probably in February. At the moment, it's called "On the Wrong Track," though there's a chance that could change. (Anyone out there want to suggest a different name that combines all of the following elements: Sherlock Holmes, cowboys, murder and trains? I sure as heck can't think of anything better than what we've got now!)

Andrea Frost

Congratulations on your baby boy! I know he will bring you much joy! He's got a cute nickname.

John Schramm

What do you think of these? I tried to think of song titles that had "home" and came up with a few. Maybe not for this book, but future books.

1) Bring It On Holmes
2) Holmes For The Holidays
3) Holmes Of The Brave

These titles don't tie in cowboys, murder, or trains, but...

Steve Hockensmith

Thanks for the well wishes, Andrea! And thanks for the possible titles, John.

"Holmes for the Holidays" actually exists already: It's a collection of Sherlockian Christmas pastiches. "Bring It On Holmes" sounds like a movie about mystery-solving cheerleaders. Maybe "Holmes of the Brave" could be about a Sioux warrior who sets out to follow in Old Red's footsteps.

Then again, maybe not....
