Look at Mr. Fancy Pants Book Writer showing off by writing his latest book BACKWARDS. He is just TOO GOOD to start with Chapter 1 like the rest of us :-)

Start with chapter 1? Pshaw. That's for amateurs. I've written so many books now if I don't mix it up I get bored. I wrote "The White Magic Five & Dime" with one arm tied behind my back. "Nick & Tesla's High-Voltage Danger Lab" was written blindfolded. I want to do my next book in a shark cage. The only problem is finding a waterproof computer....

Getting close! Think it will be out for Xmas? By the way, if you were really great you wouldn't even bother with an underwater laptop or a shark cage; Chuck Norris would use a shark tooth ripped from Megalodon's mouth and carve a story into the hull of a long lost sunken battleship all in one breath. So take that!

A December release is what I'm shooting for, so you can put the book on your wish list for Santa. (Then again, please don't. Santa doesn't pay royalties.) As for Chuck Norris, I'm sure he could humiliate all us writers by whipping out the Great American Novel in his sleep (with a Megalodon's tooth), so I'm grateful that he's remained focused on being the world's most accomplished actor instead.

Okay, just four chapters left, and I'm more than ready. I've missed the guys.

[I've missed the guys.]
Me, too! That's one of the reasons I decided to write "The Double-A Western Detective Agency" a while back (I was also super-burned out on the other projects I was working on at the time, but that's a story for another day.) My writing flow got disrupted by a family vacation and some work stuff, but now I'm focused on those last four chapters again. If all goes according to plan, the first draft will be finished within the next month and the book'll be on sale in time for Christmas. Stay tuned!

Awesome! This will definitely be on my Christmas list. Also, why do the sharks get to just swim around the cage being all sharky while you do all the hard work? If you're going to write your next book in a shark cage, at least make sure the sharks serve drinks or something. :)

You're right, Liam. I don't just need to find a waterproof computer, I need one with a fin-friendly keyboard so the sharks can do their part. Think I'll have any luck at Office Max?

I just finished The World's Greatest Sleuth, thought that might be the end of the series, but I'm so pleased to know there will be another adventure!

"WGS!" was indeed supposed to be the end of the line for the guys. I knew when I was writing it that my publisher was going to drop the series, so I wanted to give the book a feeling of closure. After a few years went by, though, I got the itch to write about the Amlingmeyers again, and I figured there was a decent number of people who wanted to read about them, too. We'll see if I was right!

Wow. That’s on my Christmas list, as every book in the series has been... as a devoted fan, PLEASE don’t let publishers dictate when it ends, once ur burned out on it, or it’s difficult to come up with different plot lines, we would all understand, then again, I hope and pray that your genius and brilliance will keep plots in ur brain, for years to come. (Sucking up never hurts) lol
Seriously, I have about 250-300 “new” Sherlock Holmes “ novels, shorts anthologies, pastiches, etc and while not anything that SH devotees would deign worthwhile, at 66 years young, ur characters and plots, to me, are totally in the Holmes” realm “
Thank you from me, and all your fans.

Thanks for the encouragement, Bob! It has been liberating to say "Just cuz the original publisher was done with the series doesn't mean I have to be." Pulling the new book together has been fun and definitely proved (to me, anyway) that the series still has plenty of gas in the tank. I'm almost in the home stretch (I'll be starting my last round of revisions in a couple weeks) so soon you'll be able to see if you agree. From your message above, I suspect you will!
